New North Dakota DUI Laws, 1st July 2013

North Dakota strengthens DUI laws. House Bill 1302 was signed into law on 29th April 2013 by North Dakota Governor Jack Dalrymple. New laws were effective as of 1st July 2013 and include the following provisions:

  1. Increased fines for DUI convictions
  2. Increased jail time for repeat offenders (2nd and subsequent offenses)
  3. Requires 2nd and subsequent offenders to participate in the 24-7 sobriety program
  4. Makes refusal to submit to on-site alcohol screening a criminal offense
  5. Increases the look-back/washout period from five years to seven
  6. Makes a 4th or subsequent offense a class C felony regardless of the length of time since previous offenses
